DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters will host a legislative coffee on Zoom on Saturday\, March 6 from 9 to 10 a.m. \n  \nState Senator Dawn Driscoll and State Representative Dave Maxwell will make brief remarks and then answer questions on issues expected to be considered by the Iowa Legislature in the current session.  Senator Driscoll represents Senate District 38 and Representative Maxwell represents House District 76\, both of which include Poweshiek County. \n  \nTo register for this event\, please use this registration link (also available at the Grinnell League of Women Voters Facebook page): \n  \nThe League of Women Voters encourages you to submit questions in advance to GrinnellLWV@gmail.com.  The deadline for submitting questions via email is 5 PM on the Wednesday before the event\, which will give legislators time to prepare answers.  Attendees will be able to post questions in the Zoom chat while the event is underway\, but priority will be given to questions submitted in advance.

DESCRIPTION:It is almost time for the League of Women Voters March Legislative Coffee.  It will be held on March 9 at 10 am at the Drake Community Library in Grinnell. Unfortunately\, Representative Dean Fisher has declined our offer to participate\, and Senator Annette Sweeney will not be able to attend this month due to a prior engagement. \nDue to these circumstances\, we will be viewing and then practicing how to follow bills on the legislative website using the video “Navigating the Iowa State Legislative Website” produced by the Johnson County League of Women Voters. We will also discuss bills currently in play at the legislature and how to contact legislators regarding the bills important to you. We invite everyone to bring their own laptop if they would like to participate “hands on” during this Coffee.
