Rod Blum in Iowa’s U.S. House First District. \nBennett\, an assistant leader in the Iowa House Democratic Caucus\, will deliver the keynote address at 6 p.m. on Iowa’s momentous 2017 legislative session\, where Republican-led majorities passed laws dramatically limiting workers’ rights\, women’s access to health care\, and public school funding. \nNorris\, whose four decades in Iowa Democratic politics spans involvement in the Farm Aid movement in the 1980s to service as Iowa Governor and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack’s chief of staff in the 2000s\, will speak with Democratic activists as part of his tour through the state in advance of a potential run for governor in 2018. \nRowe\, one of two declared Democratic candidates for the Iowa U.S. House seat in the First District\, is a Linn County Democratic Central Committee member. DESCRIPTION:The Hall of Fame Celebration will kick off our State Convention Weekend.  One of Poweshiek County’s own\, Grinnell College student Gracie Brandsgard\, will receive the Edward Campbell Rising Star Award. Our special Guest Host is Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.  Our inductees are Senator Jack Kibbie\, Outstanding Elected Official and Michael Gartner\, Outstanding Supporter. \nOur other honorees include: \n\nJoAnn Zimmerman (Dixon Terry Outstanding Activist)\nTom Henderson (Bob Creech Outstanding County Chair)\nLinda Nelson (Minnette Doderer Outstanding Leadership)\nBill Brauch (Jim Lodwick Outstanding SCC Member)\nGracie Brandsgard (Edward Campbell Rising Star Award)\n\nHere is the link that makes it easy to purchase tickets.
